Is The Reformation Over
$37.50For the last few decades, Catholics and Protestants have been working to heal the wounds caused by centuries of mistrust. In this work, a Christianity Today 2006 Book Award winner, premier Christian historian Mark Noll and Carolyn Nystrom provide a critical evaluation of post-Vatican II Roman Catholicism and its relationship to the evangelical church. While not ignoring significant differences that remain, the authors provide a clarion call for a new appreciation among evangelicals of the current character of the Catholic Church.
This landmark book will appeal to those interested in the ongoing dialogue between Catholicism and evangelicalism, students of church history and/or contemporary theology, and pastors and church leaders.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Suburban Church
$28.00Over half of all North Americans live in the suburbs. In The Suburban Church, retired pastor Arthur DeKruyter encourages Christians to “go where the people congregate” and illustrates how to plant, grow, and renew suburban congregations.
Throughout this book, DeKruyter relies on forty-five-plus years of pastoral ministry experience in which his own congregation grew from five families to more than five thousand members. He demonstrates how to minister successfully, dispels myths about suburbia, and explains how to recruit and support volunteers and how to connect international missions to local church growth, and more.
Each chapter concludes with questions for discussion, making the book ideal for pastors and church committees.

Transforming Evangelism
$35.93How can Episcopalians reclaim evangelism primarily as an enriching spiritual practice? How soon will we recognize that our traditional hands-off approach has led to a crisis of evangelism with our own children? How can we learn to practice evangelism in an multicultural and multifaith society ? and to what purpose? What styles and practices of spirituality do most to enrich our sense of evangelical calling?
These are some of the questions David Gortner asks in this book on evangelism for clergy and congregational discussion. He delivers both good and bad news about Episcopalians and evangelism, and provides models and spiritual practices to feed the growing hunger in our churches for good news.

Engaging The Doctrine Of God
$40.00Traditionally, evangelical theology has been committed to a position of classical theism, emphasizing God’s immutability and omniscience. Of late, traditional affirmations have been challenged by theologians who affirm a more christological focus (often drawing from Karl Barth’s theology) and by those who affirm a theology of “open theism.”
The essays gathered in this collection give evidence of the depth and creativity of contemporary evangelical theology as well as the variety of positions held by those within the movement. Part one focuses on New Testament studies and the earliest development of a Christian doctrine of God. Part two considers two figures who have widely influenced evangelical theology. Part three considers opinions on the cross, the suffering and sovereignty of God, and the contemporary debate, and part four concludes with a chapter on theology and pastoral care. Both scholars and clergy will find that these essays represent the entire range of thought within the evangelical tradition. The contributors provide readers with a stimulating guide to the contemporary debate.
Contributors include David F. Wright, N. T. Wright, D. A. Carson, Paul Helm, Oliver D. Crisp, John Webster, Henri A. Blocher, Pierre Berthoud, Stephen N. Williams, Bruce L. McCormack, and Donald Macleod.

Conspiracy Of Kindness (Reprinted)
$20.00God is seeking to enter the heart of every person on this planet. Yet, for those who are not gifted evangelists, the task of communicating the gospel can seem daunting. What if there was another way? There is, and it’s called the conspiracy of kindness. Operating on a simple premise, this exciting form of servant evangelism enables every follower of Christ, from brand-new to mature believer, to become an effective evangelist through unassuming acts of kindness. In this book, Steve Sjogren offers a proven vision, simple strategy, and real-life stories that show the amazing impact servant evangelism has had throughout the world. Here’s how to communicate the love of God more persuasively through actions than with words. Learn how churches, groups, and individuals have used washing windows, cleaning toilets, handing out sodas, and more to impact their communities with the life-changing love of Christ. Although a simple premise, the conspiracy of kindness principle affects both those serving and those being served. Are you ready to roll up your sleeves?

Evangelism Without Additives
$18.00What if evangelism meant just being yourself?
If the gospel really is good news, why do most Christians avoid evangelism? Why is witnessing often a negative experience, for both the sender and receiver? Wouldn’t it be great if you could communicate the good news without having to become a spiritual salesperson?
What if
*you didn’t have to make a speech in order to witness?
*you could use everyday experiences to nudge others closer to Jesus?
*the things you’re already doing counted as evangelism?Evangelism can be as normal as asking great questions and paying attention to the people Jesus misses most. It involves doing things you already do, but with a little more intentionality. Just by being yourself and becoming unusually interested in others, you can discover that people will ask you about Jesus.
This isn’t another program or pitch. It’s a handbook on how to make real connections with the people formerly known as lost.
Think of it as evangelism for the rest of us.

Transatlantic Revivalism : Popular Evangelicalism In Britain And America 17
$49.98Revivalism has always been an important strain in American Protestantism. At times it has been the dominant influence. Often perceived as a home-grown movement, revivalism actually originated in England and has thrived in both countries with the help of two centuries of intellectual cross-pollination. This book focuses on English and American evangelicals during the early and mid-nineteenth century. Examining, first, American revivalism in the crucial state of its development, from the 1790s to the 1840s – when evangelicals used their most aggressive conversion techniques – it goes on to show the significant effects these developments had on the English revival movement. The revival tradition ultimately became orthodoxy in America; in Britain, however, it failed ever to achieve real respectability. Transatlantic Revivalism examines this contrast. It shows how attitudes and institutions in Britain prevented the flowering of an American style revivalism; conversely, particular American conditions allowed Methodism, which in England exerted only limited influence on Protestantism, to become the largest and most thoroughly revivalistic of all Protestant denominations. Church historians have often under-emphasized or deliberately ignored evangelical life; its emotionalism, disorder, and impropriety were an embarrasment to them. More recent historical scholarship has been primarily interested in tracing the secular implications of revivalism. This study focuses on those major evangelical denominations, particularly the Methodists, which in both countries provided the primary expression of evangelicalism and which gave it its cutting edge.

Witness
$22.43In this book, Ron Lavin explores in great depth exactly what witnessing is as well as what it is not. Whether the witness comes from an unnamed high school math teacher or a person one is hoping to marry, a pastor or a priest, it is always the same thing–it is simply the planting of a seed. The author reminds us that we are not necessarily responsible for the way people react to our witnessing or for the end result. That part is God’s work. We, like the apostles, are only called to speak about what we have seen and heard. We are called to Witness.
This book is designed to be used in many different settings, from individual reading to Sunday School classes to church membership training. Based largely on the book of Acts, Witness leads members of a missional church through:
The priority of witnessing,
The difficulty of witnessing, and
The results of witnessing. From establishing the need for the missional church, we are led through learning about prayer, repentance, hospitality, koinonia, hope and encouragement, and ultimately to exactly what it means to Witness both inside and outside the confines of the missional church today.

Little Primer On Humble Apologetics
$17.99Always be prepared to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. (1 Peter 3:15-16) We’ve all felt the tension. An opportunity to speak for Christ comes up, and either we jump in with both barrels blasting or we cower in the corner and say nothing. Is there a better way? Can we learn to speak boldly, yet humbly, about our faith in Christ? Veteran apologist Jim Sire offers salient counsel derived from over fifty years of experience in a vast array of settings. Through a variety of snapshots, both successful and unsuccessful, he helps us understand the nature, value and limits of apologetics, and suggests how to tailor our comments to respect our audience whether large or small, formal or informal. He then outlines five key arguments for the Christian faith and offers responses to five common objections. Finally, for those especially drawn to apologetics, he offers counsel on how to discern a call to apologetic ministry.

Exiles : Living Missionally In A Post Christian Culture (Reprinted)
$30.00Exiles: Living Missionally in a Post-Christian Culture presents a biblical, Christian worldview for the emergent church-people who are not at home in the traditional church or in the secular world. As exiles of both, they must create their own worldview that integrates their Christian beliefs with the contemporary world. Exiles seeks to integrate all aspects of life and decision-making and to develop the characteristics of a Christian life lived intentionally within emerging (postmodern) culture. It presents a plea for a dynamic, life-affirming, robust Christian faith that can be lived successfully in the post-Christian world of twenty-first century Western society. This book will present a Christian lifestyle that can be lived in non-religious categories and be attractive to not-yet Christians.
Such a worldview takes ecology and politics seriously. It offers a positive response to the workplace, the arts, feminism, mystery and worship. Exiles seeks to develop a framework that will allow Christians to live boldly and courageously in a world that no longer values the culture of the church, but does greatly value many of the things the Bible speaks positively about. This book suggests that there us more to being a Christian than meets the eye. It explores the secret, unseen nooks and crannies in the life of a Christian and suggests that faith is about more than church attendance and belief in God. Written in a conversational, easy-to-read style, Exiles is aimed at church leaders, pastors and laypersons and seeks to address complex issues in a simple manner. It includes helpful photographs and diagrams.Add to cartin stock within 3-5 days of online purchase

Big Pond
$16.86People often comment, “I would love to be a bold witness but I’m afraid.” Many books have been written on how to overcome this fear. In this book, Nell Grafton shares bold witnessing experiences that took place in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Montana, Tennessee and Brazil. Many of her experiences took place as she served with her husband who is a minister. Two of her desires were to be trained as a witness and to learn how to fish. She has combined actual fishing trips with fishing for men. One of her main places to fish and witness is The Big Pond outside of Thornton, Arkansas. Her stories will thrill and encourage you not to fear but to be intentional and bold in your witness. This book would be a tremendous help to those who are training to be a witness.

Story Of Evangelism
$40.99In this new history of evangelism, Tuttle examines the broad sweep of the church’s witness to the gospel from a truly global and inclusive perspective. The familiar figures are all here: Paul, Patrick, Boniface, Columba, Luther, Wesley, Carey, and the like. Yet Tuttle knows that the story of the church’s ministry of evangelism has been a worldwide endeavor dependent on women as well as men, and lesser-known figures as well as famous ones. He organizes his material into particular historical periods or moments, each one by way of three perspectives – the cultural forces establishing the need for evangelism; the evangelist in particular; the impact the evangelist had within that particular period.

Why Good Arguments Often Fail
$27.99You gave it your best shot. You made the best case you knew how, and your friend still wasn’t persuaded to follow Christ. Why is it that solid, rational arguments for the Christian faith often fail?
For over 50 years James W. Sire has asked himself that question. Sometimes, of course, the arguments themselves just aren’t that good. Sometimes the problem has to do with us and not the arguments. And sometimes the problem lies with the hearers.
With wisdom borne of both formal and informal experience, Sire grapples with these issues and offers practical insight into making a more persuasive case for Christ.

Loving The Church Blessing The Nations
$30.99IVP Print On Demand Title
Rediscovering the role God designed for the church in mission is a critical issue facing the missions movement today. That role is to glorify God by planting churches among every tongue, tribe, and nation. Planting churches amid unreached peoples is a complex process. It calls forth every ministry gift and the contribution of every believer.
Imagine a businessman, a construction worker, a schoolteacher, and an engineer all working together to support the development of a local church amongst an unreached people group in another part of the world. Most Christians will not leave home and go elsewhere to minister. If they are to participate in God’s global mission, they must be affirmed, developed and released right where they live, in the context of their local church. This book shows how churches can become centers of mission vision and implementation and so accomplish God’s design for the local church.

In a series of engaging essays and responses, the book explores how evangelism has functioned within Lutheranism historically and articulates a Lutheran theological perspective on evangelism within the broader developments in mission theology over the past several decades. It further helps to show how evangelism from a Lutheran perspective may be differentiated from other theologies of evangelism that are part of the Christian movement in our day.The book moves from theory to practice as it relates this theology of evangelism to the life of congregations that are seeking to proclaim the gospel in the emerging postmodern context, provides congregations with perspectives on how to utilize this theology in shaping the practice of evangelism within their church life. A study guide to encourage group discussion and reflection is included.

Prophetic Evangelism : When God Speaks To Those Who Dont Know Him
$24.99Authentic Publishers Title
In this compelling book, Mark Stibbe argues that God wants to use Christians to speak prophetically into the lives of unbelievers, waking them up to the fact that Jesus is alive and he knows their every thought, word and action.
There are many biblical examples of God’s people using prophecy in their witness to unbelievers. Jesus used prophecy in His ministry to seekers. After Pentecost, God gave the gift of prophecy to believers as one resource among many in their witness to the world. Furthermore, Christians today receive prophecies for those who don’t know Christ, often with immediate and life-changing effects. This book contains many such testimonies.

Evangelism In Retirement Homes
$15.61Plundering hell and populating Heaven with Evangelism in Retirement Homes are truly rewarding. God loves all of His people and wills each one to live above and not beneath. Yet, often the elderly who live with disabilities or who are just too old to live alone in their own homes are forgotten by society. It is so awesome to visit the folks, lead them to their Savior, and pray for their healing, and then to see their very countenances change and joy fill their hearts. To hear them say, “Thank you for coming!” is heartwarming. Doing a “Retirement Home Blitz”will make you hunger and thirst to go to all the facilities in your area to reap the harvest. We pray this book will be a help to your ministry as you reach out to the elderly as never before-for such a time as this.

Stand And Deliver
$22.48Stand and Deliver is a practical manual for deliverance ministry. It is designed to present usable instruction for the conduct of deliverance ministry. As the Introduction states, “This book is a blueprint-a road map for deliverance. It deals with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of deliverance ministry.” As such, it is a “manual of war” for those engaged in this vital, front-line, in-the-trenches ministry to the body of Christ. As the authors say, “The victory has been won. The foundation for deliverance has been accomplished in Christ. This book is intended to help point the way toward the realization of the complete fruit of deliverance in the life of every believer. Due to the wrathful nature of our adversary, Satan, we will not accomplish this without opposition. But through the forceful application of these principles, every deliverance minister may assist believers to lay hold of the kingdom of God. Thus, may we all experience God’s righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Kingdom Come : How Jesus Wants To Change The World
$24.99Seek First the Kingdom. God is up to something! And His plans are far greater than we might imagine. Christianity is not merely about isolated individuals going to heaven. It’s about God transforming the entire world and making things right. Sickness will be healed, sins will be forgiven, injustice will be eradicated, and all creation will be redeemed. But this is not merely a distant future. It’s happening now through what Jesus came to establish–the kingdom of God. Allen Wakabayashi reawakens us to the world-changing reality of the kingdom of God. With clear, biblical insight, he unpacks what Jesus proclaimed about the good news of the kingdom and spells out the implications for us today. Focusing on the kingdom of God will revolutionize how we live out our faith, how we think about our world and how we explain the good news about Jesus. Ultimately, understanding ourselves as citizens of the kingdom will empower us to be God’s change agents in the world. God is at work to restore everything to be the way he intended to be, and we can be a part of what he is doing. Get a glimpse of the kingdom coming, and experience His will being done–on earth as it is in heaven.
