In January 2020, at the young age of 71, Linda Herring began her second career as a Dining Room Hostess at Chick-fil-A Kinston after 40-plus years of service in the dental lab industry. Her providential arrival proved to be a natural fit given her skills in customer service, public speaking, and spiritual teachings. Linda quickly learned how to care for dine-in guests, going above and beyond their expectations by providing Chick-fil-A’s Second Mile Service.
In March of 2020, Chick-fil-A was required to close their dining rooms due to COVID-19. As a result, we no longer needed a dining room hostess. Linda was concerned that she would lose her job so she pivoted and learned how to serve guests and the restaurant by assisting drive-thru, curbside, and catering. She reinvented herself, once again, to meet the needs of the company and the customers.
