It is peculiar we Americans take the notion of God so lightly. And many who do have a real interest are shedding the skin of traditional Christianity, hoping to reinvest in a more tolerant “higher power.” But the religious world is littered with contradictions, absurdities, and mediocrity, and a lifetime of God-swapping has left a lot of hearts full of emptiness.
